Tanzanite is basically the Blue variety of "Zoisite". Tanzanite, discovered in Tanzania in 1967 and was introduced into jewellery in 1969 by Tiffany & Co. of New York.Tanzanite is mined as a greenish yellowish brownish crystalline material that resembles Andalusite. Moderate heat (750-950 degrees) is applied to get the color you see today ranging from light blue/blue-violet to Top Gem colors of rich deep Intense blue/blue-violet. Zoisite was originally used in lamp shades and other ornamental art carved items. Tiffany's acquired rights to the trade name "Tanzanite". Tanzanite occurs in blue, lilac blue, or deep violet blue, but other colours are possible including green , yellow, pink, brown and khaki. These colours and also paler blue stones are often heat treated to produce the preferred deep blue colour. Sources for this gemstone Tanzanite is found only in Tanzania, FOR ME AS A TANZANIAN ITS A GREAT PRIDE TO HAVE SUCH A LOVELY STONE WITH RICH EXOTIC BLUE VIOLET COLOUR MINED ONLY IN MERELANI, TANZANIA. NOTE: IT IS BELIEVED IN YEARS TO COME TANZANITE WILL BECOME EXTINCT.SINCE THE BELT FOR IT ,IT KEEPS DISSAPPEARING.THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME TO SECURE YOUR COLLECTION.
