Moonstone occurs in  blue, but it also occurs in grey, white, pink, green and brown.It is usually polished as a cabochon, and is often carved with a moon face. Its importance as a gemstone arises because of its schiller, which in moonstone has been given the name adularescence.The colour of this schiller regarded as most desirable is blue, which usually occurs in a white or grey body colour.

Mystery Surrounding this stone

Moonstone almost seems magical with a ghostly shimmering glow floating in a crystalline material. The Romans thought that moonstone was formed out of moonlight.

Typically Moonstone is not HEAT treated.

CARE

Moonstone should NOT be cleaned in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner.  We recommend ionic  cleaners and/or warm, soapy water and a soft brush as the best way to clean your Apatite jewelry.
